hi, everyone,

i'm new to this board (and a pretty rad board it is, too!) and thought i'd start off with something short and sweet: does anyone know of an existing seed exchange or swap in bellingham or whatcom county (washington)? i know a lot of folks on here are in or around seattle, but i thought i'd give it a shot anyway.  wink

thanks! more soon!

Start your own via the internet! There are some good organic farms, farmer's markets and eco-sound nurseries out by Bellingham. Put up some flyers if you're feeling motivated! Seed swaps still seem to be pretty neighborly.

most definitely. been up here a week now, and have already found friends up the block or across town or downstairs who are growing so many different things: one person has calendula and beans, someone else has beets and cilantro, we've got greens -- not to mention the friends with their own farms and huge gardens out in the county. we're going to have a seed swap potluck sometime this week, and an internet-based one would be a great next step.

we just moved back to town after six months being away, and it seems that everyone's just picked up on growing food in backyards (and front yards!) almost independently of one another -- the next step, now is to combine efforts! human evolution's definitely speeding up, as are (i think) our abilities to recognize it, help it along, and create even more amazing possibilities. how handy that growing our own food starts to seem so beautiful, miraculous, and fun right when food prices start skyrocketing!
