Olympia Weekend Permaculture Design Course facilitated by Marisha Auerbach and friends Autumn, beginning weekend of September 14, six weekends through November Fertile Ground Community Center and other locations to be announced.... 311 9th Ave Se, downtown, Olympia, WA
Permaculture is an exploration of how humans can exist on this planet and support their needs indefinately and without harm. The intention for this course is to facilitate a systems approach to thinking about different issues, encouraging care for the earth and its inhabitants as a diverse community. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of permaculture techniques and strategies that one could incorporate into their everyday life, or enhance their career. There will be suggested readings and we will visit and network with others locally using permaculture principles in their lives and careers.
Topics include: * Permaculture ethics & principles * patterning * design & observation * agroforestry * edible landscaping * natural building * forestry * nutrient cycling * ethnobotany * soil * guilds * water * bioregionalism/localism * urban permaculture * appropriate technology * energy conservation * animal husbandry * seed saving * pest control * organic gardening * restoration * microclimates * economies
The tuition for this course is $700 - $600 sliding scale. We are open to work/trade possibilities.
the dates for the Permaculture course are: September 14-16: An Introduction To Permaculture Design September 28-30: Patterning & Ecology October 5-7: Water October 26-28: Home Gardens, Forest Gardening, Natural Building November 9-11: Redefining wealth, Urbanism & Localism November 16-18: Final Presentations & Closing Friday night class is an opening for the weekend theme. It is from 7 - 9 pm Saturday and Sunday are from 9 am - 5 pm with a potluck lunch. On Saturday nights, we have (optional) evening sessions from 7 - 9 pm
