Apparently PCC is thinking of charging for bags.  The idea is supposedly to encourage folks to bring their own bags.

At first I thought this was too frivolous to worry about.  Then the guy said "what if it was 50 cents per bag?"

Well .... that would certainly encourage me to remember to bring bags.

What do you all think?

I think that if you do not buy very much at a time (only a bag or 2), it is easier to form a habit of bringing your own bags, especially if you have a sturdy canvas bag or two that you can reuse multiple times.

However, I wonder how many people will bring 20 bags to reuse, and how many times can you reuse a bag that they charge you $.50 for?

I'm thinking that they charge 50 cents for a paper or plastic bag.

And it might be something less than 50 cents.

As is, they have a 5 cent discount if you bring your own bag.  Maybe this change will just be to have a 25 cent discount.

Maybe they will make it a 20 cent discount per bag if you bring your own bag and then charge 10 cents per bag if you you don't.
